Does Commontray need any other software to work?
No. Commontray works on its own: people sign in on the print page, and you see reports and download a CSV on the admin page. Integrations add billing, alerts and email on top.
How do printer alerts reach Slack or Microsoft Teams?
Paste an incoming webhook address on the admin page. Commontray sends a short plain-text message when a printer has a problem for two checks in a row, and another when it’s fixed. Slack incoming webhooks, Microsoft Teams workflows and Google Chat webhooks all work.
Which mailboxes work with email to print?
Any mailbox that offers IMAP, which includes Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and most hosting providers. You create the address, for example print@yourspace.com, and give Commontray its sign-in details.
Can I get the data into my own billing or BI tool?
Yes. The reports page downloads a CSV with one row per job: date, person, printer, document, paper, black & white and color pages, the amount charged, what came from credit and what was invoiced.
